The bigger picture

Don't you just love the fact that we have a God who sees the bigger picture? It is amazing really and it's a concept that we find hard to grasp at most times because we are so caught up in the short term.

Recently I decided to study the book of Exodus. When I really got down to reading it, some phrases stood out to me because I really could not understand them. Phrases when God told Moses that He would harden the pharaoh's heart. When all the miracles were happening and the Pharaoh still wouldn't budge on letting the Israelites go. I just didn't perceive why God with His infinite power wouldn't just let the Pharaoh yield to His way and let the Israelites go.

The book of Exodus goes on to show how the Pharaoh eventually let the Israelites go. I just didn't understand why God took the Israelites the long way around to get to the promised land and not just the direct path. I struggled with all these questions and I gave them to God. The next day, I got a epiphany. God is a God of the bigger picture. As cliche as this might sound, we struggle to understand this every day as we are going through different situations and the Israelites could not understand it either as they were waiting on being saved by God, as they were walking through the desert. They saw their pain at that moment but God saw a situation that could have worked to grow them. He saw a story that would last for generations way past them, a story that would serve to give the glory to Him and be a building block for faith. He saw this as even preparation for them occupying their promise land.

So if you are struggling to understand what's going on to you now. If you don't understand why God is taking you through this season in your life, just know and always remember that He is the God of the bigger picture who sees beyond your situation and looks at who you are going to become as a result of it.
